Connor Hahn’s hat trick led Lake Norman Charter to a 5-1 victory at home over Maiden on Wednesday night that left the Knights still holding second place in South Fork 2A high school boys’ soccer.

Adam Kennedy added six saves for Lake Norman Charter, which improved to 7-2-0 in the conference. The Knights are two games back of league-leading Newton-Conover.

Lake Norman Charter goes to North Lincoln for a league match on Thursday night and then battles Newton-Conover in Newton on Monday.

Maiden (4-5-0, fourth place) is at home on Thursday night to face West Lincoln in a conference match.

Bandys 3, Lincolnton 2

Michael Karapetian, Garrett Rhodes and Ben Joseph scored the Trojans as they won a South Fork 2A match at Bandys.

Macauley Bulen, Jason Kreger and Joseph each had an assist for Bandys, which improved to 4-6-0 in the league and moved a half-game away from sharing fourth place with Maiden.

Lincolnton fell to 3-6-0 in the conference.

Bandys plays East Lincoln at Bandys on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in a league match, and Lincolnton will be at home Thursday night, facing East Lincoln.

East Lincoln 10, North Lincoln 1

The Mustangs scored five goals in each half at home to beat the Knights.

East Lincoln improved to 6-3-0 in the South Fork 2A and is in third place while North Lincoln, 1-8-0 in the league, is in last place.

The Mustangs plays at Lincolnton on Thursday night in a league match while North Lincoln is at home the same night to face Lake Norman Charter.

Newton-Conover 9, West Lincoln 0

The visiting Red Devils stayed undefeated in the South Fork 2A (10-0-0) and atop the league standings with another victory.

Newton-Conover is at home Monday at 6:30 p.m. to play second-place Lake Norman Charter.

The Red Devils can clinch no worse than a share of the league title by beating the Knights on Monday. Newton-Conover would need to win Monday and have Bandys beat East Lincoln to win the title outright on that night.

The South Fork 2A plays a 14-match schedule.

Patton 5, Hibriten 2

League-leading Patton won on the road, moving to 9-0-0 in the Northwestern Foothills 2A.

Nijat Tahirli and Kevin Pineada scored for Hibriten, 6-3-0 and in third place in the conference.

Patton travels to Fred T. Foard on Monday for a 6:30 league match, and Hibriten will be at home, also at 6 p.m. on Monday, to face Bunker Hill in a conference battle.

St. Stephens 5, West Caldwell 2

The Indians had three first-half goals in a home Northwestern 3A-4A victory that keeps them on the heels of league-leading Hickory.

St. Stephens improved to 7-2-1 in the league and is a half-game up on third-place South Caldwell.

West Caldwell is 2-7-1 in the conference and in seventh place.

The Indians play Watauga in Boone on Monday at 6:30 p.m. while the Warriors face Hickory at West Caldwell at 6 p.m. on Monday.

South Caldwell 9, McDowell 1

The Spartans had eight first-half goals, winning a Northwestern 3A-4A match in Hudson to stay in second place in third place in the conference race.

South Caldwell next plays on Monday at 6:30 p.m., battling Freedom at the Catawba River Soccer Complex in a conference match.

McDowell, 1-7-0 in the league, is at home Monday at 6 p.m. to play Alexander Central in a league match.

Hickory 2, Watauga 1

The Red Tornadoes won at home, moving to 8-1-0 in the conference, and they remain in first place in the Northwestern 3A-4A.

Hickory travels to West Caldwell for a league match on Monday (6 p.m.) while the Pioneers face St. Stephens, also on Monday (6:30 p.m.) in Boone.

VOLLEYBALL

West Iredell 3, Fred T. Foard 0

The Warriors finished an unbeaten Northwestern Foothills 2A schedule by beating the Tigers at Foard, 28-26, 25-20, 26-24.

West Iredell won the league title by going 12-0, finishing two games ahead of Foard (10-2).

East Burke 3, Draughn 1

The Cavs won 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 27-25 on the road to close their Northwestern Foothills 2A schedule.

Erica Clontz had 15 kills and five aces and Graleigh Hildebran posted 11 digs and 19 assists to lead East Burke, which finished in fourth place in the conference at 6-6.

Draughn finished 4-8 in the conference and in fifth place.
