The Northwestern Foothills 2A’s regular-season championship teams have collected the big hardware from the league’s first season of basketball.
Conference officials released the All-Northwestern Foothills 2A girls and boys teams on Sunday, a day after all of the conference’s teams still in the state 2A playoffs were eliminated.
Girls champion East Burke swept the top player and coaching awards in a vote of conference coaches with Josie Hise winning Player of the Year and Crystal Bartlett named the Coach of the Year.
Boys champion Patton produced the top league player in Tripp Causby and his coach, Dennis Brittain, won Coach of the Year.
East Burke’s girls won all 12 of their conference games, finishing four games in front of Draughn and Patton, and the Cavs finished 27-2 overall after falling 48-45 to Wilkes Central on Saturday in a third-round playoff game in Icard.
Patton’s boys went 12-0 in the league as well and finished 21-7, falling Saturday 67-62 at No. 1 seed Mountain Heritage in a third-round game.
