Former Bandys High start Hayden Deal goes to the mound Wednesday night in a battle for first place.
Deal, a left-hander who is 1-2 with an ERA of 3.83, is listed as the starter for the Mississippi Braves, who play host to Pensacola (Fla.).
Mississippi won the opening game of the series on Tuesday night 8-1, leaving both teams at 33-22 and tied atop the standings for the Double-A South’s South Division.
Deal was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Braves after a tryout at the Bandys stadium. A Braves scout offered Deal a contract before Deal left Bandys that day.
When Deal will make his 12th start of the season will depend on the number of starters the Braves decide to use in their rotation.
