MORGANTON — Freedom High announced on Monday it has cancelled its first junior varsity and varsity football games of the year due to COVID.
Patriots athletic director Antonio Lyerly said Thursday’s Crest at Freedom JV game won’t be played and Friday’s Freedom at Crest varsity game is also off.
He said the moves were COVID-related, and the schools will work together to see if they can develop new playing dates, if possible.
Freedom’s new season opener will now be Aug. 26 at home against East Burke’s JVs and Aug. 27 at East Burke in varsity.
