HICKORY – Kyle Cody of the Hickory Crawdads has been selected as the South Atlantic League (SAL) Pitcher of the Week for June 12-18.
Cody, a 6-foot-7 right-handed pitcher, threw eight scoreless innings and gave up one hit last Saturday against the BlueClaws in Lakewood, N.J. He struck out eight in that game.
At the SAL All-Star Game break, Cody has six starts this season in which he pitched at least five innings and allowed three or fewer earned runs.
Cody, a sixth-round pick in the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft, leads all Hickory starting pitchers with 51 strikeouts and 59 2/3 innings pitched. He has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 51-21.
