OTHER AREA PLAYERS

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

HARVEY

Bowie did not play on Monday and starts a series on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. (EST) at Portland (Ore.).

Hunter Harvey had a tough night last Friday in his ninth start of the season. He went two innings, gave up five hits and six runs (all earned), walked one and struck out none with Trenton winning 7-2.

Harvey faced 12 batters and threw strikes on 36 of his 59 pitches but gave up a double, triple and two home runs.

He is 1-2 this season with 32 1/3 innings pitched. He’s allowed 36 hits, 20 (all earned), walked eight and struck out 30. His ERA is 5.57.

Harvey has been pitching every fifth game for the Baysox. If he does that this week, his next start would likely come on Saturday (6:05 p.m.) or Sunday (1:35 p.m.) at New Hampshire.

If a Sunday rainout factors in – and/or Harvey were to pitch based on numbers of days of rest before throwing again — he could start in a series at Portland (Ore.) that is Tuesday through Thursday.

Harvey is not listed as Bowie’s probable starter for Tuesday night’s game.

ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)

Zach Jarrett, who starred in high school at Hickory and in college at Charlotte, plays outfield for the Shorebirds (30-24).

Delmarva did not play on Monday and has a home game on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. against Greensboro.

Delmarva played a doubleheader on Sunday at Charleston (S.C.), falling 3-2 in the first game and winning 5-4 in eight innings in the nightcap before a crowd of 4,913.

Jarrett is tied for 18th among South Atlantic League (SAL) hitters, a league that has 12 hitting .300 or better, led by .354 by Kannapolis’ Laz Rivera.

Jarrett’s one of five SAL players with 10 or more home runs – Seuly Matias of Lexington (Ky.) has 17, Asheville’s Chad Spanberger has 14, Asheville’s Casey Golden has 12 and Jarrett and Seamus Curran of Delmarva each have 10.
