PETERSBURG, Va. – With four players reaching double figures, Richard Bland College handed visiting Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) an 80-67 loss on Saturday in men’s basketball.
Marvin Troutman paced the Statesmen with 13 points off the bench, and starters Ryan Jones, Robert Smith and Stanley Taylor added 11 points each for Richard Bland.
Tyrell Oglesby led the Red Hawks (9-15, 4-11 Region X) with 17 points off the bench. Forward Isayah Johnson added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and guard Marcus Talley scored 13 points and registered six steals.
The Red Hawks trailed 38-26 at halftime and were outscored by one point in the second half.
CVCC’s next game is Tuesday as part of a home doubleheader with the Red Hawks’ women at the Tarlton Complex. The men play Vance-Granville Community College at 7 p.m., after the CVCC women face Patrick Henry Community College at 5 p.m.
