MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Oglesby, Williams lead CVCC to home victory

HICKORY – Tyrell Oglesby scored 24 points and Myles Williams added 20, leading Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) past visiting Lenoir Community College 85-76 on Saturday in men’s basketball.

CVCC improved to 8-9 overall and 3-5 in Region X.

Oglesby scored 21 of his points in the second half. A freshman from Inman, S.C., he has scored at least 20 points in five games this season.

Williams, a sophomore from Morganton, made four 3-pointers, tying his season and career scoring highs.

The Red Hawks used a five-minute scoreless stretch by the Lancers (4-11, 2-7 in Region X) late in the second half to gain control for good.

CVCC goes for its third straight win on Monday at 6:30 p.m. when it plays at home against Pitt Community College.
