MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Louisburg rolls, spoils CVCC’s final home game of regular season

HICKORY – Louisburg College, the leading men’s team in Region X basketball, rolled to a 92-66 victory on Saturday in the final home game of the season for Catawba Valley Community College.

Paced by Armoni Lee’s 12 first-half points, Louisburg (23-4, 16-2) stormed to a 52-28 lead by halftime at the Tarlton Complex.

Freshman Marcus Talley paced the Red Hawks (10-16, 5-12) with a career-high 18 points and made four 3-pointers.

Louisburg led by as many as 20 points before CVCC cut the lead to as little as 13 points behind a 10-point second half by Talley.

Isayah Johnson added 11 points for the Red Hawks, and Tyrell Oglesby added 10.

Jordan Oakley scored a game-high 20 points for Louisburg, while Lewis Freeman and Lee finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Before the game, the Red Hawks honored their four sophomores who were playing the final home game of their CVCC careers — guards Caleb Bryson, Dante Starr and Myles Williams and forward Steve Ruszala.

The Red Hawks complete their regular season schedule with three away games, the first coming Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Patrick Henry (Va.) Community College.
