HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College will have “Sophomore Night” on Tuesday at 6 p.m., facing Richard Bland College at 6 p.m. at the Tarlton Complex.

The Red Hawks go in having won 22 of their last 24 matches, including picking up two wins on Saturday that added to head coach Shannon Hudson’s growing career win total.

CVCC, 26-8 overall and 12-0 in Region X, collected Hudson’s 300th career victory on Oct. 16 with a 3-0 victory at Surry Community College.

CVCC 3, Fayetteville Tech 0 (Saturday)

The Red Hawks improved to 12-0 in Region X by winning 25-11, 25-22, 25-20.

Emma Clark paced CVCC with eight kills and six blocks (one solo, five assists).

Meredith Patterson (six kills), Siena Naotala (five kills, five blocks) and Sage Harrington (four kills, four blocks) also helped lead the charge.

Defensively, Macy Pope had a team-high 10 digs, while Madi Bolch and Emily Williams recorded nine digs.

At the net, Emilee Webber made 15 assists and Pope added 12 assists.

CVCC 3, Lenoir Community College 1 (Saturday)

Patterson’s 10 kills led the Red Hawks to a 25-8, 24-26, 25-10, 25-14 victory.

CVCC tallied 30 blocks (23 assisted), including a team-high eight from Harrington (three solo, five assists) and five each from Clark (two solo, three assists) and Kelsea DeJarnette (one solo, four assists).

Defensively, Williams and Pope each had 17 digs. Paige Sizemore (12 digs) and Bre Myers (10 digs) also reached double digits in digs.

Webber made 14 assists to lead CVCC, and Pope added 13 assists.

CVCC 3, Cape Fear 0 (Friday)

Behind one of the best performances of the season from middle hitter Harrington, the Red Hawks swept the Sea Devils, 25-10, 25-15 and 25-15.

Harrington tallied a team-high 10 kills — just one kill shy of her season-best in a single match. Clark added eight kills and Patterson made seven kills for the Red Hawks.

At the net, Webber and Pope helped dished outt 13 and 12 assists, respectively.

CVCC 3, Louisburg 0 (Friday)

CVCC won its opening Friday match on the road, 25-20, 25-16, 25-12.

Rachel Delcamp and Clark both made nine kills each.

Harrington added eight kills while Williams tallied 18 digs and Pope added 14 digs. Pope also recorded 20 assists — her fourth 20-plus assist performance of the season.

Clark also led the Red Hawks in blocks with four (three assisted).
