WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Local NASCAR driver will be honored Saturday at CVCC game

HICKORY – Matt DiBenedetto, a Fred T. Foard High graduate and NASCAR driver, will sign autographs and be honored in a halftime ceremony Saturday at a Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) women’s basketball game.

CVCC plays Cape Fear Community College in the Tarlton Complex at 1 p.m. on Saturday and admission is free.

DiBenedetto, 27, is entering his fifth full-time season in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup series in 2019. He is coming off one of his best seasons, leading laps in eight races and finishing a career-best 29th in the driver’s points standings.

DiBenedetto joins Leavine Family Racing this season and will drive the No. 95 Toyota Camry starting with Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway in February.
