HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) takes the field on Wednesday up six spots – to No. 11 – in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II rankings in baseball.
The Red Hawks (11-6), who were 17th in the previous rankings released on Jan. 25, play a doubleheader on Wednesday at USC Lancaster with the first game starting at 3 p.m.
CVCC’s pre-conference schedule has included games with top-tier NJCAA Division I teams, including Walters State, ranked No. 6 among Division I teams. The Red Hawks split a two-game series with the Senators on Feb. 18.
The Red Hawks started 6-0 this season, sweeping Piedmont International and Limestone before splitting with Walters State.
CVCC has swept or split in six of its seven series this season.
