The Cobras (6-2) beat the Red Hawks at CVCC’s Tarlton Complex, winning the season series two games to none.

Sophomore post player Steve Ruszala led CVCC (3-4) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. He scored 15 points in the second half.

The Red Hawks led 6-0 early before the Cobras went on a 16-1 run to gain control.

CCC&TI made a dozen 3-pointers – nine in the first half – after having hit 12 when the rivals battled on Nov. 8.

Despite outscoring the Cobras 34-25 in the second half on field goals, the Red Hawks made just eight of 21 free-throw attempts. CVCC ended up 16 of 35 from the charity stripe.

CVCC pulled within nine points with four minutes to play but got no closer.

Tyrell Oglesby and Myles Williams also reached double digits in scoring for the Red Hawks with 14 and 12 points, respectively, and CVCC’s Isaiah Johnson was one point short of a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

CVCC’s next plays on Dec. 2, a 3 p.m. game at home against Richard Bland.
