FOREST CITY – Hickory Post 48’s battle with Area IV American Legion baseball East Division leader Rutherford County was rained out Tuesday and rescheduled for Thursday night.

Post 48 (10-10, 6-3 West Division) will still play Post 423 on back-to-back nights, as Rutherford County visits the Legion Fairgrounds in Newton on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

The makeup game is Thursday night at 7 p.m. at McNair Field, and Hickory then has games against Waverly, Ohio (3 p.m.) and Taylorsville (7 p.m.) on Friday in Newton and a game against Burke County at Morganton’s Shuey Field on Sunday (7 p.m.) to close the final full week of the regular season schedule.

Post 48 also had a home game on Monday against Taylorsville rained out and moved that game to Saturday night.

Hickory is vying for a West Division title and is in third place through Tuesday behind Rutherford County and Cherryville.

The regular season ends on July 5 and first-round playoff series are scheduled to begin on July 7.
