NEWTON – Hickory Post 48 got a fifth-inning grand slam from Bradley Fleenor on Monday night, but visiting Napoleon (Ohio) rolled to a 14-4 victory in American Legion baseball at the Legion Fairgrounds.

The home run by Fleenor, a Hickory High product, pulled Post 48 within 7-4 but the River Bandits quickly responded with three runs and ended up scoring the most runs allowed this season by Hickory.

Seth Moore (Bunker Hill) took the loss for Hickory.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Post 48, leaving it 8-8 overall heading into its next game on Wednesday (7 p.m.) against Caldwell County at Henkel-Alley Field.

After facing Caldwell County, Post 48 will play Maiden at the Legion Fairgrounds on Friday at 7 p.m., and Hickory has a doubleheader on Sunday against Asheville with a 4 p.m. start at Asheville Roberson High.
