ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)

JARRETT

Zach Jarrett — who starred in high school at Hickory and in college at Charlotte – is an outfielder for the Shorebirds, who went 35-32 in the first half of the South Atlantic League (SAL) season.

Delmarva finished fourth in the Northern Division standings, five games back of division winner Lakewood (N.J.), 2 ½ games behind third-place West Virginia and four games back of second-place Kannapolis.

In 64 games this season, Jarrett’s batting .313 with 15 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 38 RBIs.

He earned a spot on the Northern Division roster for the SAL All-Star Game on Tuesday in Greensboro.

Jarrett is one of 14 players in the SAL hitting 300 above and his average is sixth in the league.

With 10 home runs, Jarrett is one of 10 SAL players in double-figure home runs. Seuly Matias of Lexington (Ky.) leads the league with 22.

DEAL

HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal, a left-hander, is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.95 with two saves in 14 appearances for the Braves (40-29), who won a first-half Southern Division title.

He’s thrown 32 1/3 innings, allowed nine runs (seven earned), walked eight, hit two batters, issued one intentional walk and struck out 45.

Deal is 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his last 10 outings with two saves, 25 innings pitched, six walks issued and 38 strikeouts. He made his only start of the season in his most recent outing.

Rome’s second-half schedule begins Thursday at Augusta (Ga.).

HARVEY

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained while trying to maneuver away from a foul ball into the dugout on a day he was not pitching.

He was scratched from his 10th start (June 8) and remains listed as “active” on the Bowie roster.

Harvey is on the Baltimore Orioles’ 40-man roster, so if he were to go on the disabled list he would be considered on the major league roster during that time.

Harvey is 1-2 with 32 1/3 innings pitched. He’s allowed 36 hits, 20 (all earned), walked eight and struck out 30. His ERA is 5.57.

Bowie (29-37) finished last in the West Division of the Eastern League, 8 ½ games back of division winner Akron (Ohio).
