Zach Jarrett had a hit and scored a run on Sunday, raising his  batting average to .288 for the Norfolk (Va.) Tides, but Durham prevailed 6-5 to close a Triple-A series in Norfolk.

Jarrett batted fifth in the order and started in center field. He went 1-for-2 and walked twice.

He is hitting .288.

Norfolk dropped to 15-24, and the Tides are in sixth place — 12 games behind Durham — in the Triple-A East Southeast Division.

Jarrett is the son of NASCAR racing champion Dale Jarrett and grandson of Ned Jarrett, a NASCAR championship driver and well-known racing commentator and broadcaster.

Norfolk has a home series this week against Gwinnett (Ga.) — it starts on Tuesday night — and the Tides then play a six-game series in Charlotte, beginning on June 29 and continuing through July 4.
