Zach Jarrett was not in the lineup on Tuesday night when Norfolk (Va.) began a Triple-A series against visiting Charlotte and won 5-4.

The Tides improved to 5-14 and left the Knights 7-12, and their series continues on Wednesday night in Norfolk.

Jarrett was recently promoted from Double-A Bowie (Md.) to Norfolk and is off to a hot start. He is hitting .315 this season and .267 as a pro.

He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles after a sterling college career at Charlotte, and he was a high school star at Hickory.

He is the son of NASCAR champion driver Dale Jarrett and in his fourth on-field pro season (there were no minor league games in 2020).
