Former Hickory High star Zach Jarrett headed into the final series of the season for the Norfolk (Va.) Tides with a batting average of .230.
The Durham Bulls play at Norfolk through Sunday with a night game on Wednesday, a 12:05 p.m. start on Thursday, night games on Friday and Saturday and a Triple-A series finale on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
Jarrett had two solid games to end a series in Charlotte. He hit his 10th home run of the season — a solo shot in the sixth inning — as visiting Norfolk beat Charlotte 7-0 last Friday, going 1-for-5.
After not playing last Saturday, he was 2-for-5 with his 11th double of the season and drove in two runs in a 6-1 victory by the Tides.
Jarrett has 10 home runs and 39 RBIs this season and is nearing 400 pro games (.257 average with 37 home runs, 166 RBIs in 394 games).
The Tides were off Monday and Tuesday. They are 51-74 in the Triple-A East Southeast Division. They will not make the playoffs.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19.
He has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020), after being drafted by the club in 2017 in the 28th round.
