Zach Jarrett has played in two of the three games Norfolk (Va.) has faced host Charlotte through Thursday night.
The opening game of the series was rained out on Tuesday, and Jarrett was in the lineup Wednesday when Charlotte won 9-5 in seven innings. He did not play in the second game that night, a 6-5 win by Charlotte in seven innings.
In the first game on Wednesday, Jarrett went 0-for-2 and walked once, He started in centerfield and hit eighth in the Tides lineup.
Jarrett returned to the lineup on Thursday night when Norfolk won 11-6. He went 0-for-4, starting in left field, and he walked once and scored a run.
His batting average is down to .237 and he has eight home runs and 29 RBIs this season.
The series continues Friday (7:04 p.m.), Saturday at 1:05 p.m. and Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in Charlotte.
The Tides are 38-53 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 1/2 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round after a solid college career at Charlotte. In high school, he was a multiple sports start at Hickory.
