MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Jarrett not in Norfolk lineup in loss against Durham

Durham beat Norfolk (Va.) 8-2 in Norfolk on Thursday night when Zach Jarrett was not in the lineup for the Tides.

Jarrett, a former star at Hickory High and at Charlotte, sat out the Triple-A game.

The series continues on Friday night in Norfolk and there through Sunday.

Jarrett’s batting average is .245.

The Tides fell to 28-44, and they are in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 21 games back of Durham.

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).

He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.

The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
