Zach Jarrett hit his eighth double of the year and drove in a run Wednesday night, helping Norfolk (Va.) nip visiting Durham 2-1 in a Triple-A game.
With 4,081 fans on hand, Jarrett went 1-for-3 while batting sixth in the Tides batting order. He started in centerfield.
Jarrett boosted his batting average to .245 heading into another game in a six-game series with Durham on Thursday night.
The Tides improved to 28-42, and they are in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 21 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
