MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Jarrett not in lineup as Memphis edges Norfolk

Zach Jarrett was not in the lineup on Thursday night for Norfolk (Va.) when visiting Memphis picked up a 7-6 victory in 11 innings.

A former star at Hickory High and in college at Charlotte, Jarrett is hitting .246 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs.

He was 0-for-9 in his last three games prior to Thursday’s game.

The series with Memphis continues Friday and through the weekend in Norfolk.

The Tides are 34-51 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 1/2 games back of Durham.

Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).

He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.

The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
