Jacksonville (Fla.) opened a seven-game series at home on Tuesday night by edging Norfolk (Va.) 6-4 in a Triple-A game.
Zach Jarrett was in the Norfolk lineup, batting seventh and starting in centerfield, and he went 0-for-2, walked twice and scored a run.
His batting average is .248, and the Tides play again Wednesday night in Jacksonville (5:05 p.m.) — a makeup game and also the regularly scheduled game.
Norfolk is 30-46 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 21 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
