Zach Jarrett helped the Norfolk (Va.) Tides topple Durham on Friday night, getting two hits in a 9-4 home victory.

Jarrett played left field and moved to No. 7 in the Tides’ batting order. He went 2-for-3 with a double — his sixth of the year — and also walked once and scored two runs.

The series continues with games at Norfolk on Saturday and Sunday.

Jarrett, a former Hickory High and Charlotte star, raised his batting average by seven points with those two hits (now .266).

The Tides are 24-30 and they are in fifth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 13 games behind the division-leading Bulls (38-18).

Jarrett was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
