Zach Jarrett got his Triple-A debut off to a good start on Friday night.

Jarrett — promoted from Double-A Bowie (Md.) to Norfolk (Va.) on Wednesday — started in right field, batted No. 8 in the Tides order and went 2-for-3 with a double in a 1-0 home loss to Jacksonville (Fla.).

Norfolk dipped to 3-13 with a loss in 70 degree weather before a crowd of 4,718.

The series continues on Saturday night at Norfolk, the Triple-A farm club for the Baltimore Orioles.

Jarrett was drafted by Baltimore after a sterling college career at Charlotte, and he was a high school star at Hickory.

He is the son of NASCAR champion driver Dale Jarrett and in his fourth on-field pro season (there were no minor league games in 2020).
