Visiting Charlotte nipped Norfolk (Va.) 3-1 on Thursday night when Zach Jarrett drove in the only run the Tides scored.
Jarrett, batting sixth in the order, went 1-for-4 with an RBI and raised his batting average to .236. He has eight home runs and 32 RBIs this season.
The series continues Friday night in Norfolk (7:05 p.m.), and Jarrett is 4-for-12 in the first four games of the series. Saturday’s game is at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday’s starts at 6:05 p.m.
After taking Monday off, the Tides play a six-game series against visiting Jacksonville (Fla.). They close the regular season with five games in Charlotte (starting Sept. 22) and six games against Durham in Norfolk, starting Sept. 29.
Jarrett is a former Hickory High and Charlotte star in college.
The Tides are 41-63 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 26 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
