WESTERN FOOTHILLS 3A: Only top 4 teams will play in baseball, softball tournaments

Only the top four teams will advance to the Western Foothills 3A baseball and softball tournaments, conference officials said Thursday.

Both tournaments are scheduled next Wednesday and Friday and all games will be played at the highest seed.

The softball games will be at 6:30 p.m. for softball and 7 p.m for baseball.

Opening round games are No. 4 at No. 1 and No. 3 at No. 2.

Currenty, the top four in softball are East Lincoln (12-0), North Lincoln (10-2), Fred T. Foard (8-4) and St. Stephens (8-4) with two games to go and all of the league’s other teams have at least eight league losses.

Foard and St. Stephens are tied for third place and close the regular season on Monday at St. Stephens. Foard won 2-0 at Foard on April 1. North Lincoln swept Foard and split games with St. Stephens earlier in the season.

East Lincoln has clinched at least a co-championship and its final regular season game on Monday is at home against North Lincoln.

In baseball, the current top four are North Lincoln, East Lincoln and Fred T. Foard share second and St. Stephens is in fourth place.

North Lincoln faces East Lincoln on Monday to close the regular season and Foard plays at St. Stephens.
