KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Hickory native Rick Barnes received a contract extension Thursday as men’s basketball coach at Tennessee.
Barnes, a former Hickory High and Lenoir-Rhyne University athlete, won Coach of the Year last season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) by guiding the Vols to a 26-9 record. They were picked to finish 13th among 14 teams in the preseason.
Barnes’ contract was extended through the 2023-24 season.
