St. Stephens High’s Axavier Byrd (with pen), a 6-foot-4 senior guard-forward who averaged 17.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Indians this season, signed this week to play for Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCC&TI). Byrd was All-Northwestern 3A-4A this season and made the all-tournament team at the Dick’s Sporting Goods tournament, helping the Indians go 9-15 overall and 5-9 in conference games./ST.
