Bandys High scored on back-to-back possessions in the fourth quarter – the second score after recovering a fumble — to nip Fred T. Foard 27-7 on Friday night and run its home win streak to 10 in a row.

The Trojans (2-0) led 14-7 heading into the fourth quarter and gained possession at the Foard 49, scoring five plays later on a 14-yard run by Christian Sigmon. Jessie Pope’s PAT made it 21-7.

Foard’s Corey Siemer then fumbled after a 12-yard gain on the Tigers’ next possession and Bandys got the ball at its 32 with nine minutes, 53 seconds to play.

Highlighted by first down runs of 13 and 16 yards by Malik Kennedy, the Trojans drove 68 yards and scored on a 25-yard pass from Hunter Jones to Blake Reynolds to extend the lead to 27-7.

Foard (0-2) fumbled four times and lost three and finished with 172 rushing yards, led by Siemer’s 93 on 19 carries.

Bandys had four players gain more than 49 yards – Jackson Spicer (69), Isaiah Gilchrist (54), Kennedy (52) and Parker Dehart (49) – and ran for 308 yards.

The Trojans took their first lead with 5:38 left in the third quarter on a 4-yard run by Jones and PAT by Pope.

Bandys beat Foard for the eighth time in their last 11 meetings.

South Caldwell 14, Maiden 13

The Spartans won at Maiden for the third straight time, holding the Blue Devils to 90 rushing yards and stopping a two-point conversion with about 6 ½ minutes to play to keep the lead.

Avery Raynor ran for 117 yards, ran for a TD and threw for another to lead South Caldwell (2-0). Spencer Piercy added 73 rushing yards, and the Spartans ran for 236 yards and had 258 in total offense.

Dylan Abernathy, who had two early interceptions for Maiden (1-1), caught a 34-yard TD pass from Ethan Rhodes for a first quarter lead.

Avery Raynor’s 7-yard pass to Piercy and Piercy’s conversion run gave the Spartans an 8-7 lead by halftime.

Avery Raynor’s 3-yard TD run with 10 minutes, 56 seconds left to play put South Caldwell up 14-7.

Maiden scored with 6:32 to play on a 4-yard run by Isaiah Thomas to get within one point.

North Lincoln 57, East Rutherford 21

Jack Carter had a role in five TDs – two rushing and three passing – to lead the Knights (1-1) to a victory in their first home game of the season.

Carter ran five times for 140 yards and completed five of six passes for 115 yards as North Lincoln collected career win No. 140 for head coach Nick Bazzle.

North Lincoln led 36-7 by halftime after Carter had thrown scoring passes to Seth Whitley, Sam Brady and Jake Soorus.

East Lincoln 41, East Rowan 20

The Mustangs scored all of their points in the first half to win a season-opening game on the road.

East Lincoln had 486 yards of total offense, led by Cole Barber rushing for 89 yards and quarterback Jason Barnett completing nine of 15 passes for 178 yards and three TDs.

The Mustangs led 13-7 and were up 41-7 at the half after Barnett threw two TDs and East Lincoln ran for two scores in the second quarter.

Pine Lake Prep 20, Lake Norman Charter 14, OT

Noah Murphy’s interception in the end zone for Pine Lake Prep netted a victory for host Pine Lake Prep after it had scored on a pass in its only overtime possession.

McAulay Maddox caught a 3-yard pass from Nick Reid in overtime for a six-point lead.

Pine Lake Prep led 14-6 at the half but the Knights (0-2) tied it at 14 by scoring with 3:53 to go on a 48-yard pass from Jeff Womack to Chris Peal and two-point conversion.

South Point 14, Lincolnton 0

The visiting Red Raiders limited the Wolves (0-2) to 64 rushing yards to even their record at 1-1.

The game marked the home debut of Joe Glass as head coach at Lincolnton.

Reed King completed seven of 20 passes for 75 yards, five of those for 44 yards to Dejarrish Gash, and Amontre Finger ran for 25 yards for the Wolves.

Malachy McGrisken (10 tackles), Zion Strutt (8) and Tiaje Ross (7) led Lincolnton defensively.
