SOUTH FORK 2A ROUNDUP: South Point rolls past winless Lincolnton

South Point High took control early on Friday night en route to a 42-7 home victory over Lincolnton.

The Red Raiders (1-1) had three rushing scores and threw for another TD in the opening half at Lineberger Stadium.

Junior fullback Naseem Jones scored three TDs and ran for 89 yards while Caleb Gibson, a senior, had two TDs on just five carries and ran for 79 yards to pace South Point.

The only score for Lincolnton (0-2) came on a run by Caden Wyatt to close a 75-yard drive.

South Point led 28-0 at the half and extended that by two TDs in the third quarter, runs of 10 and 15 yards by Jones.

Lincolnton, beaten by Cramer in its season opener, was limited to 112 rushing yards by the Red Raiders with Jamal Littlejohn rushing 15 times for 53 yards.

The Wolves will try to avoid a 0-3 start on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they face North Gaston in Lincolnton.

Lake Norman Charter 28, Pine Lake Prep 14

The Knights (1-1) jumped to a 21-0 lead by halftime to even their record with a home win.

Lake Norman Charter survived a 315-yard passing night by Pine Lake Prep sophomore quarterback John Whelan, who was 13-for-24.

Junior Kris Petroski had three receptions for 96 yards and a TD for Pine Lake Prep.

Hunter Thomas and Zach Morlidge each had 10 tackles and Lucas Massimini had two hits for lost yardage among his seven tackles for Pine Lake Prep.

No additional information on the Knights was available.

Lake Norman Charter is at home on Friday night, playing Community School of Davidson (2-0).
