GREENSBORO – The Southern Division hit four home runs – one given up by the Hickory Crawdads’ Tyler Phillips – en route to winning the South Atlantic League (SAL) All-Star Game 9-5 on Tuesday night.

Before a crowd of 7,447, the South out hit the North 12-10 and did not make any errors. The North had three errors.

All three of the Crawdads and Hickory native Zach Jarrett of the Delmarva (Md.) Shorebirds played.

Jarrett started in left field and went 0-for-2 and struck out once while Phillips pitched an inning and gave up a seventh-inning home run to Augusta’s Manuel Geraldo.

Hickory catchers Yohel Pozo and Sam Huff also played, both going 0-for-1.

The North scored one run in each of the first three innings and had a 2-1 lead at one point. A four-run top of the third, making it 5-2, put the South ahead to stay.

The Crawdads are off Wednesday and then open a two-game series with West Virginia on Thursday night at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Jarrett and the Shorebirds are off on Wednesday before they open the SAL’s second half with a home game against Kannapolis.
