PGA TOUR: Poston struggles in second round, drops from lead to tie for 33rd

FORTH WORTH, Tex. – J.T. Poston had a good day on Thursday, but Friday was much different in the second round of the US PGA Tour Dean & DeLuca Invitational.

Poston, a former golfing star at Hickory High and Western Carolina, left the course at the Colonial Country Club on Thursday in a three-way tie for the lead after shooting a 5-under par 65.

When he left the course on Friday, after a round of 76, he was among a dozen golfers tied for 33rd with a score of 141.

His tough round on Friday included a double bogey on hole No. 5, bogeys on No. 7, No. 10 and No. 11, and a seven on No. 17.

The tournament enters its third of four rounds on Saturday with four golfers sharing the lead, all at 134 – Webb Simpson after a second-round 66, Kevin Kisner after a 67 on Friday, Danny Lee after a 64 in the second round and Scott Piercy after his 66 on Friday.

The final round is Sunday.

This is Poston’s first year on the PGA Tour. In 18 events, he has made 14 cuts and won nearly $575,000. His best finish so far a tie for 10th at the Puerto Rico Open in late March.
