Hibriten High won titles in softball and girls’ track to edge Fred T. Foard for the Northwestern Foothills 2A’s Wells Fargo Cup.
In totals released by conference officials, the Panthers finished with 765 points and the Tigers — who had the best points total for spring sports — closed at 757.5.
Patton took third (690), followed by Bunker Hill (600), Draughn (597.5), East Burke (590), West Iredell (472.5) and West Caldwell (407.5).
Each conference decides how it scores league finishes to determine a Wells Fargo Cup winner. The Northwestern Foothills 2A gives 50 points to a team that wins a conference title.
Patton had a 7.5-point lead over Fred T. Foard through fall sports, and Patton led after winter sports with 482.5 points to Hibriten’s 475.
In the spring, Foard gained 327 ½ points via titles in girls soccer, girls tennis and boys track, plus second places in baseball, boys golf, girls track and field and a tie for second in softball to finish with 757.5.
