Fred T. Foard High, unbeaten in the Northwestern Foothills 2A volleyball regular season at 14-0, opens the conference tournament at home on Monday night as the top seed.
The Tigers, 23-1 overall, play No. 8 West Caldwell (0-19, 0-14) at 6 p.m. as one of four opening-round matches.
Also playing at 6 p.m. are No. 5 Draughn (15-9, 8-6) at No. 4 East Burke (15-6, 8-6), No. 7 Hibriten (3-19, 1-12) at No. 2 Patton (18-5, 10-4) and No. 6 Bunker Hill (10-12, 3-10) at No. 3 West Iredell (13-11, 10-4).
Admission is each tournament site is $5 each day.
The semifinals are Tuesday at the highest seeds and the championship is Wednesday at the highest seed
Foard’s only loss this season is to Watauga.
Patton and West Iredell tied for second place with Patton winning a draw for the tournament’s No. 2 seed, and East Burke and Draughn tied for fourth with the Cavs getting the No. 4 seed via having a better record than the Wildcats against Patton.
