The South Fork 2A victory improved the Knights to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the league and left the Rebels at 4-1, 0-1.

West Lincoln quarterback Seth Willis scored on a 2-yard run late in the first half but the PAT failed and the Knights hung on to their slim lead.

Soorus’ TD run was his second of the season. He had his first last week, 43 yards in a victory over Bessemer City.

North Lincoln prevailed via its defense stopping a Rebels drive with a sack and turnover in the final quarter and an interception that allowed it to run the clock out.

The Knights missed a field goal prior to the turnover that allowed them to hang on.

The victory was the 132nd for North Lincoln head coach Nick Bazzle, who is back in coaching after sitting out two seasons after retiring at Alexander Central.

North Lincoln continues South Fork 2A play on Friday at 7:30 p.m., enjoying homecoming night with a visit from Lake Norman Charter.

West Lincoln travels to Maiden for a 7:30 p.m. conference game that will be Tom Sain’s 100th game as Rebels head coach (45-54).
