An update on HB91, a bill that would change how high school sports in the state are governed.

Some state legislators favor dismantling the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) and/or having the NCHSAA staff continue their roles only if the organization signs an agreement and follows stipulations from education officials in the state.

Among those stipulations are the NCHSAA could no longer fine or discipline schools and it would also be subject to most open meetings and state laws about public disclosure.

The NCHSAA has assets of $41 million that have drawn intense attention and questions from members of the N.C. Senate.
