HUNTER HARVEY

Harvey, a first round pick by Baltimore in 2013, has not pitched since Monday night. He is listed as Bowie’s probable starter for Sunday’s 1:35 p.m. game against Richmond (Va.).

Bowie (10-24) beat visiting Richmond 8-5 on Friday night before 3,973, and the teams play again on Saturday.

Harvey made his sixth start of the season and gained his first win last Monday, pitching the first game of a series at Altoona (Pa.) that Bowie won 10-5.

Last Monday night, he threw six innings, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out five while throwing strikes on 52 of his 81 pitches and facing 21 batters.

Harvey improved to 1-2 this season with an ERA of 4.78. He’s pitched 26 1/3 innings, allowed 29 hits, 19 runs (14 earned), hit two batters, walked nine and struck out 27.

Harvey is now 9-12 in his pro career — in its sixth year — with an ERA of 3.33 with 203 innings pitched, 69 walks and 244 strikeouts.

DEAL

HAYDEN DEAL

(Class A Advanced Florida Fire Frogs)

 

Deal, a left-hander who played at Bandys High and Presbyterian College, has not pitched since Monday. His next start is Saturday in a 5:30 p.m. game at Jupiter (Fla.).

The Fire Frogs (11-21) beat Jupiter 9-3 on Friday before 488 fans.

In his most recent outing, Deal threw the first game of a doubleheader at Lakeland (Fla.) and took his second loss of the season in a 6-0 win by Lakeland.

He worked five innings, allowing eights hits, one run (earned) with one walk and four strikeouts and faced 23 batters and threw strikes on 59 of his 88 pitches.

He is 2-2 with an ERA of 1.29 after throwing 35 innings this season. He’s allowed seven runs (five earned) with seven walks and 31 strikeouts.

Deal is in his third pro season after signing with the Braves after a morning tryout at Bandys.

In Rome (Ga.) last season, Deal went 9-1 with an ERA of 2.17 in 27 games (five starts), earning two saves and pitching 78 2/3 innings. He walked 17 and struck out 82.
Deal’s career numbers heading into the season: 12-3 with 2.47 ERA, 41 games, four saves, 109 1/3 innings pitched with 21 walks and 109 strikeouts.

ZACH JARRETT

(Class AA Bowie, Md., Baysox)

 

Jarrett, a former star at Hickory High and at Charlotte, is hitting .259 with one home run and eight RBIs this season. He did not play on Friday when Bowie beat visiting Richmond (Va.) 8-5.

Richmond plays at Bowie on Saturday and again on Sunday.

Jarrett is hitting .167 with no home runs or RBIs in his last 10 games.

He is in his third pro season, playing first at Aberdeen (Md.) and then in 129 games last season at Class A Delmarva (Md.), where he hit .277 with 26 doubles, six triples and 14 home runs. He drove in 72 runs, walked 41 times and struck out 136 times and was a South Atlantic League (SAL) All-Star.
