HUNTER HARVEY

Harvey, a first round pick by Baltimore in 2013, has not pitched since Monday night, when he made his sixth start of the season and picked up his first win, pitching the first game of a series at Altoona (Pa.) that Bowie won 10-5.

On Tuesday, Altoona won 3-2 at home while Bowie won 12-2 on Wednesday and the Baysox were off on Thursday.

Bowie begins at home series against Richmond (Va.) on Friday night at 7:05 p.m., and Harvey is listed as the probable starter for the third game of the series on Sunday at 1:35 p.m.

Last Monday night, he threw six innings, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out five while throwing strikes on 52 of his 81 pitches and facing 21 batters.

Harvey improved to 1-2 this season with an ERA of 4.78. He’s pitched 26 1/3 innings, allowed 29 hits, 19 runs (14 earned), hit two batters, walked nine and struck out 27.

Harvey is now 9-12 in his pro career — in its sixth year — with an ERA of 3.33 with 203 innings pitched, 69 walks and 244 strikeouts.

DEAL

HAYDEN DEAL

(Class A Advanced Florida Fire Frogs)

 

Deal, a left-hander who played at Bandys High and Presbyterian College, has not pitched since Monday when he threw the first game of a doubleheader at Lakeland (Fla.) and took his second loss of the season in a 6-0 win by Lakeland.

The FireFrogs won 4-0 over Lakeland on Tuesday and Lakeland won 2-1 on Wednesday.

Florida beat Jupiter (Fla.) on the road on Thursday and the teams play again on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with Deal listed as the Fire Frogs’ probable starter for Saturday’s 5:30 p.m. game.

In his most recent outing, Deal worked five innings, allowing eights hits, one run (earned) with one walk and four strikeouts and faced 23 batters and threw strikes on 59 of his 88 pitches.

He is 2-2 with an ERA of 1.29 after throwing 35 innings this season. He’s allowed seven runs (five earned) with seven walks and 31 strikeouts.

Deal is in his third pro season after signing with the Braves after a morning tryout at Bandys.

In Rome (Ga.) last season, Deal went 9-1 with an ERA of 2.17 in 27 games (five starts), earning two saves and pitching 78 2/3 innings. He walked 17 and struck out 82.
Deal’s career numbers heading into the season: 12-3 with 2.47 ERA, 41 games, four saves, 109 1/3 innings pitched with 21 walks and 109 strikeouts.

ZACH JARRETT

(Class AA Bowie, Md., Baysox)

 

Jarrett, a former star at Hickory High and at Charlotte, is hitting .259 with one home run and eight RBIs this season after going 1-for-5 in a 12-2 win at Altoona (Pa.) on Wednesday night before 8,074.

Bowie was off on Thursday and starts at home series against Richmond (Va.) on Friday at 7:05 p.m.

Jarrett was not in the lineup on Tuesday when Altoona won 3-2 at home before 3,312.

He is hitting .167 with no home runs or RBIs in his last 10 games.

Jarrett is in his third pro season, playing first at Aberdeen (Md.) and then in 129 games last season at Class A Delmarva (Md.), where he hit .277 with 26 doubles, six triples and 14 home runs. He drove in 72 runs, walked 41 times and struck out 136 times and was a South Atlantic League (SAL) All-Star.
