HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal, a left-hander, did not pitch on Friday night when Lexington (Ky.) won 4-0 at Rome before 4,536.

Deal made his 14th appearance – and his first start – on Wednesday night in the second game of a doubleheader at Greenville (S.C.). He pitched four innings, giving up four hits, two runs (one earned), walking one and striking out six.

The Braves had a two-run lead when Deal left but fell 6-4 in seven innings when Greenville rallied against reliever Walter Borkovich.

Deal, who did not pitch in Wednesday’s first game, threw strikes on 37 of his 58 pitches and faced 17 batters.

He is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.95 with two saves. He’s thrown 32 1/3 innings, allowed nine runs (seven earned), walked eight, hit two batters, issued one intentional walk and struck out 45.

Deal is 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his last 10 outings with two saves, 25 innings pitched, six walks issued and 38 strikeouts.

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey was listed as last Friday night’s probable starter for Bowie in a game at New Hampshire but scratched from his 10th start by a non-pitching injury (see details in stories from provided links).

As of this Friday night, he remained listed as “active” on the Bowie roster. Bowie (29-35) fell 2-1 at home to Portland (Ore.) on Friday night.

Harvey is on the Baltimore Orioles’ 40-man roster, so if he were to go on the disabled list he would be considered on the major league roster during that time.

His last appearance was June 1 when he made his ninth start of the season. He went two innings, gave up five hits and six runs (all earned), walked one and struck out none with Trenton (N.J.) winning 7-2.

Harvey faced 12 batters and threw strikes on 36 of his 59 pitches but gave up a double, triple and two home runs.

He is 1-2 this season with 32 1/3 innings pitched. He’s allowed 36 hits, 20 (all earned), walked eight and struck out 30. His ERA is 5.57.
