OTHER AREA PLAYERS

HARVEY

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained while trying to maneuver away from a foul ball into the dugout on a day he was not pitching.

He was scratched from his 10th start (June 8) and remains listed as “active” on the Bowie roster.

Harvey is on the Baltimore Orioles’ 40-man roster, so if he were to go on the 60-day disabled list he would be considered on the major league roster during that time.

Harvey is 1-2 with 32 1/3 innings pitched. He’s allowed 36 hits, 20 (all earned), walked eight and struck out 30. His ERA is 5.57.

Bowie finished last in the first-half West Division of the Eastern League, 8 ½ games back of division winner Akron (Ohio).

Visiting Akron topped the Baysox 6-4 on Thursday night before 3,177.

The Baysox are now 34-44 overall.

ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)

Zach Jarrett — who starred in high school at Hickory and in college at Charlotte – is an outfielder for the Shorebirds, who won 8-3 at Greensboro on Thursday before 5,596.

Jarrett batted third in the Shorebirds’ order and started in left field. He went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored as Delmarva improved to 40-35 overall and 5-3 in the second half in the SAL Northern Division standings.

In 72 games this season, Jarrett’s batting .319 with 17 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs and 43 RBIs. He’s hitting .341 with no home runs and six RBIs in his last 10 games.

Jarrett is among 12 SAL hitters at .300 or better, ranking fifth, and he’s one of 14 in the league with 10 or more home runs.

HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal, a left-hander, did not pitch on Thursday night in Charleston (S.C.), where the RiverDogs beat the Braves 11-3 before 5,712.

The Braves are 43-34 overall and 3-5 in the second-half SAL Southern Division standings. They won the first half, securing a postseason berth.
