HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey did not pitch on Thursday night when Bowie fell 11-5 at Trenton (N.J.) before a crowd of 4,059.

Harvey started on Tuesday night in a game that was eventually suspended after six innings tied at 4.

On Wednesday, Bowie won the suspended game 5-4 and then fell 5-2 in a regularly scheduled game.

Harvey’s start was his sixth start of the season. He pitched four innings, giving up four hits, three runs (all earned), walking two and striking out five as his ERA went up to 4.22. He faced 17 batters and threw strikes on 36 of his 59 pitches.

Harvey has a 1-1 record after pitching 21 1/3 innings. He’s allowed 21 hits, 10 runs (all earned), hit two batters, walked seven and struck out 17.

If Harvey pitches on four days of rest, his next start would be Sunday afternoon at Trenton (N.J.). If he pitches on five or more days of rest, his next start would come in a three-game home series that begins Tuesday against Altoona (Pa.).

ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)

Zach Jarrett is a former Hickory High and Charlotte star playing for the Shorebirds (25-12), whose home game on Thursday night against Hagerstown (Md.) was rained out.

After Delmarva finishes its series with the Suns, it comes to Hickory to play four games at L.P. Frans Stadium next week.

On Tuesday night, in an 8-6 win in 10 innings at Columbia, S.C., Jarrett started in right field and hit No. 3 in the order. He went 0-for-4 with one walk and two strikeouts.

His batting average dipped to .291 in 35 games with seven home runs and 17 RBIs and is tied for 17th among South Atlantic League hitters.

Jarrett is hitting .256 in his last 10 games with no home runs, three walks and two RBIs.

His seven home runs tie him for fourth in the league with Brett Boswell of Asheville, Seamus Curran of Delmarva and Ramon Marcelino of Asheville.

HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal is a left-handed relief pitcher for the Braves (24-15), who nipped visiting Asheville 1-0 on Thursday night.

Deal’s most recent outing came last Sunday when he gained his second win of the season as Rome beat Hickory 7-2 at L.P. Frans before a crowd of 900.

He pitched two innings, giving up no runs, no hits, walked none and struck out three, facing six batters and throwing all 12 of his pitches for strikes.

Deal (2-0) has now thrown 13 1/3 innings in seven games with an ERA of 1.35, giving up 10 hits, two runs (both earned), hitting two batters, walking two, issuing one intentional walk and striking out 21.

In his last three outings, Deal has pitched six innings, allowing four hits, no runs, no walks and with an ERA of 0.00 and 14 strikeouts.
