HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal, a left-hander, did not pitch on Friday night when Rome won 5-0 at Augusta (Ga.).

Deal pitched on Thursday night at Augusta and had his first bad outing as a Braves player, allowing four earned runs and two home runs as Augusta won 6-1.

Deal relieved Odalvi Javier to start the second inning and gave up a solo home run in that inning to Ryan Kirby. He gave up a three-run shot to Jacob Gonzalez in the fifth inning.

Deal pitched four innings, walking one and striking out three. He threw 63 pitches, 38 for strikes, and faced 19 batters.

The Braves are 41-30 overall and 1-1 in the second-half SAL Southern Division standings. They won the first half, securing a postseason berth.

Deal is now 4-1 with an ERA of 3.22 – up from 1.80 — and has pitched 36 1/3 innings in 15 appearances. He has issued nine walks and struck out 48.

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained while trying to maneuver away from a foul ball into the dugout on a day he was not pitching.

He was scratched from his 10th start (June 8) and remains listed as “active” on the Bowie roster.

Harvey is on the Baltimore Orioles’ 40-man roster, so if he were to go on the 60-day disabled list he would be considered on the major league roster during that time.

Harvey is 1-2 with 32 1/3 innings pitched. He’s allowed 36 hits, 20 (all earned), walked eight and struck out 30. His ERA is 5.57.

Bowie (29-37) finished last in the first-half West Division of the Eastern League, 8 ½ games back of division winner Akron (Ohio).
