KINGS MOUNTAIN – Kings Mountain High’s 7-6 home victory over Crest on Wednesday moved the Mountaineers closer to second place in South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A softball.
The Mountaineers scored all of their runs in the final two innings in a battle that featured a combined 25 hits.
Kings Mountain, 8-5 in the league, is now a half-game back of Crest, 8-4 in the league, with R-S Central (10-1) leading the conference.
By winning percentage, East Burke (6-3) and Kings Mountain are virtually even in the standings
SMAC 2A-3A teams play a 16-game league schedule.
Kings Mountain’s next conference game is April 25 at R-S Central.
Crest returns to league play on April 25 with a home game against East Burke.
