LACROSSE: After first-round bye, St. Stephens boys face Western Guilford

St. Stephens’ first state playoff lacrosse match is Tuesday at home against Western Guilford.

The Lake Norman High girls and boys are the only lacrosse teams among those from the area to get out of the first round on Friday.

Lake Norman’s boys beat Myers Park 14-6 in Mooresville and the Wildcats’ girls, also playing at home, defeated Marvin Ridge 15-11. Both games were in the 4A bracket.

In another 4A boys’ match, Southwest Guilford ousted visiting Watauga 20-10.

In 1A/2A/3A boys on Friday: Northern Guilford defeated visiting Hickory 23-4 and Western Guilford won at Patton 8-1.

In 1A/2A/3A girls on Friday: Chapel Hill downed visiting Hickory 20-13.

St. Stephens (11-5) had a first-round bye in the 1A/2A/3A boys’ bracket and will be at home on Tuesday to face No. 7 Western Guilford (10-6).

Also Tuesday, No. 8 Ardrey Kell visits No. 4 Lake Norman in a 4A boys’ match and No. 7 Myers Park visits No. 2 Lake Norman on Tuesday in a 4A girls’ match.
