Newton-Conover High’s girls’ soccer team opened the state 2A playoffs with a 9-0 romp past league rival Bunker Hill on Wednesday night in Newton.

The Red Devils (15-2-1, seeded fourth) will battle No. 12 West Davidson in the next round in Newton.

Newton-Conover shut out Bunker Hill 5-0 and 6-0 in the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A’s regular season.

No other match information was reported.

All second round matches must be completed by Saturday.

No. 10 West Stokes 7, No. 24 Maiden 1: Danielle Donovan scored for the No. 24 Blue Devils (11-10-0) and Ketzia Ramirez had an assist.

West Stokes travels to No. 8 Wilkes Central for a second round match.

No. 5 East Rutherford 6, No. 23 Mount Pleasant 0: The Cavs (12-5-3) advance to a second round home match against No 7 Lake Norman Charter.

No. 3 Salisbury 3, No. 30 Shelby 0: The Hornets advance to a second round match against No. 19 Central Academy and end the Golden Lions’ season at 5-11-3.

No. 2 Forestview 5, No. 29 West Iredell 3: The Jaguars get a second round home match against No. 15 Marvin Ridge and ended the Warriors’ season at 9-11-1.

No. 5 Kings Mountain 3, No. 26 Concord Robinson 0: The Mountaineers picked up their 20th win of the season, advancing to next play No. 22 Hibriten at Kings Mountain.

No. 22 Hibriten 3, No. 12 Northwest Cabarrus 2: The Panthers (10-7-3) will play a second round match at Kings Mountain.

No. 6 Weddington 9, No. 30 St. Stephens 0: Weddington ended the season for the visiting Indians (9-12-1) and next plays at home against No. 10 Asheville.

No. 14 North Iredell 4, No. 21 West Henderson 1: The Red Raiders (16-6-0) earned a second-round match on the road at Asheville Reynolds, a No. 3 seed.

Hickory: Hickory athletic officials said Wednesday the No. 7 Red Tornadoes (19-3-0) will play No. 11 Hickory Ridge at Hickory on Saturday at 7 p.m. in a second-round 3A match.

Mooresville: The Blue Devils’ second round match in 4A is Thursday at 6 p.m. at No. 2 Hough.
