HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Hibriten’s Keller signs to play at Lincoln Memorial

LENOIR – Hibriten High’s Anderson Keller officially signed Wednesday to play college basketball at Lincoln Memorial University.

Keller – whose father, Chad, is the Panthers’ head coach, finished with 1,399 career points. He was twice named a conference player of the year. He was also Hibriten’s team MVP for two seasons, an All-District pick for two years (first-team this past season) and was twice named Caldwell County Player of the Year.

Chad Keller was a star player at West Caldwell, playing on four conference championship teams and one that finished second in the state tournament. He went to James Madison University and transferred and played at East Tennessee State.

Hibriten went 16-10 this season, falling in the first round of the state playoffs to Marvin Ridge, after going 11-3 in the regular season in the Northwestern 3A-4A and finishing in second place.

The Panthers’ only league losses last season were 75-62 at league champion Freedom, 60-53 at home to the Patriots and 58-42 at Hickory.
