HICKORY – The Hickory Metro Sports Commission honored a male and female student-athlete from 11 area high schools on Monday during the induction ceremony for the Class of 2017 for the Catawba County Sports Hall of Fame at the Highland Recreation Center.

The 2017 Scholar Athletes of Excellence, who were selected by personnel at their schools, are:

Bandys: Zeke Kennedy, Cortney McCall

Bunker Hill: Seth Miller, Maggie Huffman

Challenger: Noah Rudisill, Rachel Englemann

Fred T. Foard: John Kanipe, Cassie Setzer

Hickory Christian Academy: Lance Cook Jr., Deja Powell

Hickory: Kaleb Hewitt, Emmaline Peterson

Maiden: Caleb Farley, Grace Canella

Newton-Conover: Aaron Hamm, Madelyn Becker

St. Stephens: Noah Brown, Lauren Morgante

Tabernacle Christian: David Dume, Brianna Oldham
