MORGANTON – R-S Central High won the Tony Causby Classic baseball tournament title on Wednesday night with a 7-0 victory over host Patton.
The Hilltoppers (16-3) outscored three opponents 24-5 to win an eight-team tournament that began on Monday.
Patton dropped to 7-14 in the loss.
Draughn’s Ben Melton hit a walk-off grand slam as the Wildcats defeated Freedom 5-2 in a third-place game played at Freedom.
In the fifth-place game, Bandys beat East Burke 8-1 to win back-to-back games for the second time this season. The Trojans improved to 5-14-1 and the Cavs are 3-16.
The tournament’s seventh-place game, West Caldwell against Chase, was cancelled.
